5 Household Uses for Casters

Some things are just better on wheels. If you’re tired of feeling that tell-tale twinge every time you carry something large or haul something that weighs a ton, here are five household items and activities that could use a little mobility to make them easier.

1. Desks

Desks are much, much easier to maneuver when they’re on wheels. This is especially true if you’re in a dorm or some other kind of shared space where you might need to re-arrange your furniture on a moment’s notice. Before you hurt your back trying to drag a desk across the room, just put casters on it instead. You’ll save your spine and your hardwood floors.

2. Chairs

In the same vein as the above, chairs are much more comfortable and convenient when they’re mobile. No longer will you be a slave to bad posture and uncomfortable working or studying angles! By adding casters to your chairs, you can freely move them around until you find a position that works for you.

3. Toolboxes

Are you tired of physically hauling your toolbox around the garage? Or maybe you have a deep pit box that can’t be moved, so you have to walk over to the corner every time you need a new hammer. Casters can solve this problem quickly and effectively by turning your toolbox into a mobile machine.

4. Laundry Baskets

Wet laundry is heavy. If you add a few casters to the bottom of your basket, however, you’ll be able to wheel it along without any strain on your legs, shoulders or back. Without the weight burden, you’ll also be able to transport more laundry at once and get your clothing sorted faster than ever.

5. Work Stations

Is there any area of your home that you think of as a work station? For example, a work bench in the garage or a little side-table in the den. If you shop now for the appropriate casters, you could turn your workplace into a mobile command unit where you’re able to wheel it freely among tools, laptops or piles of bills.

These are just five ways to use casters around your home. As you can see, their functionality is quite varied, so don’t be afraid to experiment even further by sticking them on various objects. You never know when a caster or two will solve all of your mobility problems!
