Lydia de Vega

September 10, 2008

In the late 90s, track star Lydia de Vega lost her child. He was run over by a speeding passenger jeepney near their home in Quezon City . She could have pressed charges like Lauro Vizconde, whose family was brutally murdered in their home while he was away in another country. Or she could have made Magandang Gabi Bayan do an investigative report on the incident. Or Lydia could have asked Atty. Jose Sison or Charo Santos-Concio dramatize the tragedy in Ikaw at Ang Batas or Maalaala Mo Kaya respectively. But she didn’t do those things because she wouldn’t press charges and forgive the jeepney driver.
