Fine Country

March 8, 2008

Singapore is such a fine country as what people have said. Why? There’s a fine or penalty for everything. There’s a fine for littering, fine for eating bubble gum, fine for smoking, and etc. Simple acts, but very expensive penalties, plus imprisonment. No wonder their country is very productive, clean and disciplined. That’s because the Singaporeans above all, aside from following and being afraid of fines, they respect their authorities. How I wish Filipinos will also be like the Singaporean. When we begin to value discipline and order, we begin to be authentic Filipinos.

Hello girl,I really hope too. Before Philippines was the top in the southeast asia but left behind for so many years now.If only Filipino will help each other to improve the country and follow the rules and the greedy politician change too,I guess Philipines will do better in the future.

This is one of the virtues that we need to improve---the value of discipline.Very simple but very hard to follow. But one thing that i like about us?we are the most friendly people in Asia.Did u see the Singaporeans? They are never friendly. You can seldom see them smile.I'd been to Singapore many, many times, and you cannot guarantee a very friendly service that came from the heart.(Maybe once in a while but very seldom!).

Ur right sis, discipline has to be instilled among filipinos as the number 1 value. But it takes no more than one leader to do it, it shall have to start from each and everyone of us.

Mommee, I'm with 'ya and your fabulous truck of idealism. I want a nicotine-free world! ;> But if we wished for that type of Utopia from a genie, our fellow Pinoys themselves will burn us at the stakes for being the worst "stuck-up KJs" ever existed. And that makes it even more sad.

Priscocam, yep, some three years ago the Singaporeans were tagged as the Unhappiest People on Earth by an online worldwide poll. Scary. I guess it's the price they pay for being so developed a nation. Scary AND ironic.

YUpp! I agree with you. I have been there and I love the country so much. Wish to go back there sooner, hehehe.

Hi,

I like the title and content of your post. It's every Filipino wish that Pinoys would emulate the discipline of Singaporeans. Our country is rich in natural resources that we can brag unfortunately...

I wish there's still hope.
